Hanoi arrival
Transfer: 30 km - 45 minutes drive
Arrival at the airport of HaNoi,you will be greeted and taken tothe hotel.
Stroll through the city and discover quietly small crowded streets of Vietnamese cycling and small motorcycles. Overnight at hotelin HaNoi
Day 2
Hanoicity tour
Start your day of exploring Hanoi with a walk in the gardens of the former Palace of the Governorof Indochina, now become the Presidential Palace. Discover the One Pillar Pagoda on stilts of Ho Chi Minh, the founder of modern Vietnam, and the inside of his Mausoleum (except Monday and Friday when visiting the interior is impossible).
You can also visit the pagoda Tran Quoc at the edge of the large Lake (West Lake), and the Museum of Ethnography, which offers a way of life, customs and habits of the 54 ethnic minorities populating Vietnam.
In the afternoon, visit the Temple of Literature, the first national university in the original architecture built in the eleventh century and now dedicated to the worship of Confucius and the Scholars. This Temple has become the symbol of Hanoi and the Vietnamese Culture.
In the evening, you will enjoy a puppet show on the water, folk art of the peoples in the Red River Delta. Overnight at hotel
Day 3
HanoI – Thac Ba
Transfer: 180km – 5.5 hours drive
Boat cruise: 2 hours
Departure at8:00am from Hanoito Thac Ba Lake, the largest fresh water reservoirin northern Vietnam.
Inthe early afternoon, arriving at the village of Vu Linh lake side, populated by Daowhitepants. Installation ata resident in his houseon stilts perfectly integratedin a naturalrelaxing atmosphere.Lunch.
Inthe afternoon, two hour tourin motorized Thac Ba Lake boat. Discover the lives of people living on fishing and beautiful scenery of the lake.Dinner and overnight at the inhabitant.
Day 4
Thac Ba – Ha Giang
Transfer: 200 km – 6.5 hours drive
2 hours easy hiking
After breakfast, farewell toour hosts and drive toHaGiang, capital of the province of the same name, to LucYen, known for its market of precious stones (including Ruby) village.The road passes through beautiful scenery of limestone mountains.
Stop in LucYen to visit the market and villages of Tay and Red Daoethnic group.
20km before Viet Quang, walktwo to three hours (subject to availability of time) to visit a village Pathens, very rare ethnic minority in Vietnam. The village is surrounded by amagnificent landscape of hills covered with palmettos. Arrive late afternoon in HaGiang. Overnight at hotel.
Day 5
Ha Giang – Dong Van
Transfer: 155 km. 4 hours drive. 3 hours walking
After breakfast, transfer to Dong Van, a small town in the highlands of Dong Van, a road that winds through spectacular mountain scenery. Several stops are planned along the way, the passenger demand and suggestion guide to visit villages or markets, mostly ethnic minority.
On the road, visit the village of Pho Bang, its walls typical mud houses and thatched roofs. Twenty kilometers of Dong Van, stop visiting the old palace of the king of Hmong.
Arrive late afternoon in the charming small town and Dong Van. Overnight at guesthouse.
The Dong Van Plateau is located in the far north of Vietnam. In Vietnam, it is called "high plateau of stone" because here there are only limestone mountains that are often seen in the tables of China. The region is populated by some ethnic minorities who live in very difficult conditions because they lack farmland. It is here that we really discover the most beautiful mountain landscapes of Vietnam.
Day 6
Dong Van – Meo Vac – Bao Lac
Transfer 100 km. 3 hours drive. 5 hours walking
After visiting the market of Dong Van, you will face a day of adventure to join Bao Lac, mountainous district of the province of Cao Bang.
The main interest of this day, it is the mountain scenery. You will have the impression of entering the magical world of paintings from China. The road, small but good winds along the mountains. Several stops are needed, including Ma Pi Leng Pass, promontory overlooking valleys and far away on the thousand and one peak to the Chinese border.
Arrival in the city of Bao Lac in the middle of the afternoon. Installation at your hotel and excursion in the village of Khuoi KHON, where seventy families lolo lead a self-sufficient life and live according to their ancestral rules. Formerly nomadic eaters forests minority within a minority, Lo Lo fled China eighteenth century. The village is not accessible without special permits and this community is a peculiarity in Vietnam, since they are still yet untouched by the evils of globalization. Living in a community, dependent on the monsoon cycle, rice so they seem to be stuck in another time, in a strange world where, despite the severity of their natural environment, everything is grace and beauty. Fearing evil spirits and tigers werewolves, at nightfall, they lurk in the darkness of their households, gather around the flickering light homes, listen to the elders tell the old stories. The shamans of the village lie two millennia gongs , precious, rare and out for at funerals or call the rain, open the door of parallel worlds. A wonderful world of simplicity, fragile and doomed.
Return to the guesthouse in the late afternoon.
Day 7
Bao Lac – Ba Be
Transfer: 150 km. 4 hour drive. 2 hours of walking.
After breakfast, departure to Ba Be,a small road average quality via Ban Na and Na Phac. Stops along the way to visit some vestiges of the colonial era, including a castlebuilt by theFrench.
Arrive in Ba Bein early afternoon.Installation homesta in PacNgoivillage, populated by ethnic Tay. Rest of the timefree for you to discover the village quietly and landscapes around the lake.
Dinner and overnight at the in habitant.
It is no coincidence that we call this site "Ha Long Bayin the mountains" inthe clouds, the lake lies amidgreen mountains,like so many islands that would succeed the horizon.This wild and wonderful country gives tourists the impression of havingbeen transported to heaven.
Day 8
Ba Be discovery
Biking: 2 hours
Walking and boat cruise: 4 hours
Breakfast and start our day with a bike ride. We drop by Pac Ngoi and Peng village to explore the newly discovered Hua Ma Cave. This cave is hidden inside a peak and adorned with spectacular stalactites and stalagmites. Lunch in local house
In the afternoon, embark a little boat to cruise in Ba Be Lake and soak in its sublime serenity and beauty. The surrounding mountains are covered with lush vegetation, home to diverse flora and fauna. We continue our cruise towards the scenic Dau Dang waterfall, on the way visiting some ethnic minorities. Overnight at homestay in Pac Ngoi village
Day 9
Ba Be – Ha Noi
Transfer: 220 km. 7 hour drive.
After having breakfast, you are free & easy until transferring back to Hanoi (220km), having lunch en route. Drop off at the hotel in Hanoi in the afternoon. Overnight in hotel
Day 10
Ha Noi – Ha Long bay
Transfer: 200 km – 4.5 hours drive
Arival early in the morning. You will have the day use room for shower and breakfast
After breakfast, transfer by road to Halong Bay, the eighth wonder of the world. This journey give you a chance to see the rice fields and the countryside of the Red River Delta.
On arrival around noon, check in a beautiful wooden junk for a cruise enchanting 2 days / 1 night in Halong Bay.
During this cruise, you can explore this vast chaos of karst mountains, caves, lagoons with all these ghostly shapes that can be seen from far away. It is so nice to feel completely lost and discovering every second new forms of increasingly tormented rocks. In addition, the play of light, clouds and mist creates unexpected atmospheres. It is the same life on the bay with all its fishing boats, whole families who either live in floating houses or aboard simple craft.
In late afternoon, the ship dropped anchor for the night in the bay. It is then possible for you to swim in the emerald sea or kayaking.
The lunch and dinner are served on the junk menu with excellent seafood. Overnight on board the junk in private cabin.
Day 11
Ha Long bay – Ha Noi
Transfer: 200 km – 4.5 hours
Morning in the bay, this is a special time for meditation and take a morning bath.
The buffet breakfast is served while the junk starts up slowly towards the pier. The return cruise allows you to discover other parts of the bay, including the Heavenly Palace Cave or the Cave of Surprise.
Landing at 11:30 and taken the road towards Hanoi. Direct transfer to the airport. On the road, visiting a traditional pottery village. This village, which stays away from mass tourism, still keeps the shapes of the oldest villages of the Red River Delta. Overnight in hotel
