When to go?

There is no good or bad time to visit Vietnam. If you prefer cultural tours of the country, you can travel without problems in Vietnam at anytime, with a preference for the period from March to May and September to mid-December. If you prefer the beach, you are advised to avoid the stormy season in the center of the country from October to December and then opt for the southern beaches.

Vietnam has a very diverse climate as its territory expanded on many latitudes and spread in various altitudes approximately 2500 km from north to south. When a region is wet, cold or rainy, we always find another lightly sunny.
Located in the monsoon zone of East Asia, Vietnam knows two seasons per year. Between October and March, the northeast monsoon is affecting mainly the area north of Danang. It causes cool, wet winters on all areas north of NhaTrang and mild, dry weather in the south. In April-May to October, the southwest monsoon pushes its moisture-laden winds accumulated in the Indian Ocean and the Gulf of Siam. It provides a warm and humid weather throughout the country, except in protected mountain areas (as in low-lying coastal areas of the center or the Red River Delta).

The seasonality is different for each region of the country:

The north has four seasons: The months from December to February are winter in the north of the country, it's pretty cool and humid, especially in the mountains (where the temperature often drops below10 ° C), time rather gray. February and March are characterized by an eternal drizzle the Vietnamese called'' dust'' rain. Summer starts in April-May, high humidity, rain, often with a heat haze. In June, July and August, summer is in full swing with a temperature of28-38° C, possibility of heavy showers late in the day or night. The months of September, October and November correspond to the best season to visit North Vietnam: it is20 to30 ° C, low humidity and sunny.

Between late July and September, come from the ocean devastating typhoons that would cause landslides in mountainous regions, making some impassable roads and tracks.

The Centre has a 2 season: Unlike the south of the country (region of Saigon and the Mekong Delta) and the Central Highlands, coastal lowlands of the Centre are not affected by the summer monsoon from April -May to September. It is therefore often good weather with a haze of heat, the temperature can rise to 40 ° C in July and August. For cons, the months from October to December to match the stormy season, with heavy rains that would result in more or less significant flooding on the coastal strip(Hue, Hoi An ) .
Thus the dry season lasts from January to August in Nha Trang, but from December to March -April to Dalat and the rest of the Hauts Plateaux.

The South: This area has a sub-equatorial climate with two distinct seasons. The wet season lasts from May to October, with a haze of heat and heavy rains (in the form of brief but torrential downpours almost daily, usually after - noon). The dry season lasts from December to April, with sunny weather and low humidity (especially between February and April), temperature 27-33 ° C.
